Ballam Park Heritage Trail Interpretive Framework & Implementation

Client: Frankston City Council

Collaborators: Bunurong Land Council Aboriginal Corporation

Location: Frankston, VIC

Completed: October 2025

Convergence has recently delivered a set of interpretive signs for the new Heritage Trail in Ballam Park, Frankston. This signage is part of the implementation of our previous Interpretive Framework for a cultural and heritage trail developed in 2024.

Our team undertook content research, written content development and image selection. Graphic design was also done in-house, based on Council’s existing style guide, which required some modifications to suit our content needs.

Consultation with the Bunurong Land Council Aboriginal Corporation was a strong component of our Interpretive Framework development process. The Cultural Values outcome report heavily influenced the Interpretive Signage themes, content and locations.

After a welcome sign and location map, five interpretive signs take the Ballam Park visitors along a 20 minute walk where they get to explore the rich history and features of Ballam Park and the surrounding Frankston area. From the care and knowledge of the Mayunh Bulak clan of the Bunurong peoples, to the post-war suburban growth that shaped modern Frankston, visitors will discover what created the community that Frankston has become.

See the trail walkthrough by Imagine Frankston and Frankston City Council’s news post about the trail opening.
